The brand image shows a cigarette bow with a tobacco plant. On May 8, 1784, the announcement of the tobacco patent Emperor Franz Joseph II took place. Thus, the previously leased tobacco was transferred into government administration. At that time the company Austria Tabak bore the title "K.K. Tabak - Gefällen-Kammerialdirection" and was based in the former artillery shack on the Seilerstätte in Vienna. The official outlets for tobacco products, the tobacco charts, also go back to this time. The organization of Austria Tabak has undergone extensive changes in its 200-year history. In 1823 she received the title "K.K. Tobacco Stamp and Dump Directorate". In 1828, the monopoly area was extended to Vorarlberg and Tyrol. Until the First World War, the "Tabakregie" maintained 30 factories, 17 wear magazines and 8 redeeming offices in the most important tobacco growing areas of the Danube monarchy. The changed map after World War I left only 9 factories in the Republic of Austria. In 1939, the company was converted into a public limited company, the "Austria Tabakwerke AG, before the Austrian Tobacco Directorate". After the Second World War, six heavily damaged factories were put back into operation. The reconstruction under difficult conditions began. Today Austria Tabak is a modern industrial enterprise that manages the state tobacco monopoly.
