The GST in the GDR The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes a series of five multicolored special postage stamps "The Society for Sports and Technology in the German Democratic Republic". The Society for Sports and Technology in the German Democratic Republic The Society for Sports and Technology (GST) was founded on August 7, 1952 by order of the Government of the German Democratic Republic. It is a socialist mass organization of the GDR, which unites in its ranks young people and adults who acquire extensive knowledge and practical skills in training and military sports, such as sport shooting, motor, news, sea and air sports. Thanks to the care and support of the state, the organization has developed steadily in its 20 years of existence and can look back on excellent results. The publication of the five postage stamps depicting the manifold possibilities of activity in the organization, recognizes the successful activity of the Society for Sports and Technology in building and protecting our socialist republic. 10-pfennig value Flying Sport Aerospace, navigation, aircraft and engine science, instrumentation, and practical flying are among the basics pilots learn to fly in the GST engine flight training. The flight and parachute athletes of the GDR have significantly contributed by the achievement of world championship titles and parachute jump world records, that the international experts speaks in full respect of the air sports of the GDR. This was expressed by the awarding of the World Championships in parachuting in 1966 and the World Championships in aerobatic flying in 1968 to the GDR.
