The roots of the Düsseldorf Carnival Festival date back to the 15th century. But it was only in 1825 that courageous citizens made it their mission to prevent the emergence of carnal carnivores. For this they founded the »Comitée der Faschingsvereine zu Düsseldorf«. In the same year, the term carnival became a person: with the »hero carnival«, the »fifth season« had its symbolic figure. On the occasion of a large, very carefully organized procession on the Monday of the Rose, the "Held Carnival" looked at the city - the Rose Monday parade was born. Since 1871 the "Held Carnival" is known as the "Prinz Karneval". Its regency ends after one year.
