The Ferdinandeum in the provincial capital of Innsbruck is one of the central scientific research and documentation centers in Tyrol. The Natural Science Collections include an ecological database of over 800,000 data. In the center of the music collection are the field research, the concert activity with works of Tyrolean composers on historical instruments and the documentation on CD's. In the Historical Collections, there is a reassessment of technology and commerce, of cartography and historical photography. The activities of the Prehistoric and Early Historical and Provincial Archeological Collections are increasingly focused on excavation, the art historical and graphic collections are dedicated to the exhibition. But the heart of all collections remains the library. Workshops, restoration and preparation workshops are available for all collection areas. The Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum gives the visitor an insight into the Tyrolean habitat from prehistoric times to the early Middle Ages, in the field of art from the Romanesque to the present day.
