Carl Zeller and Karl Millöcker, both representatives of the so-called "Golden Viennese Operetta", were born in the same year, 1842. Their work is indicative of a time in popularity, the joy and bliss of melodies in the background of the k.k. Monarchy was capitalized. Numerous operettas and pieces of music made Vienna the world capital of lively cheerfulness in the second half of the 19th century, with the musician Karl Millöcker's breakthrough with his begging student and the operetta Gasparone.
