The life story of Josef Stefan clearly shows that in the earlier centuries, too, talent, diligence and diligence led to an ascent to the highest societies, regardless of which social class the talent came from. He was born on March 24, 1835 in the village of St. Peter near Klagenfurt in Carinthia, his parents were ignorant of reading and writing. His extraordinary talent was already noticed in the normal school. In 1853 it was possible for him, through numerous supports, to enroll in the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Vienna. Already in 1858, at the age of 23, he handed over to the Imperial Academy of Sciences his first treatise "Remarks on the absorption of gas". In the same year he habilitated at the university with the topic "Theory of Elasticity". In 1863 he was appointed full professor of higher mathematics and physics at the University of Vienna, and was the youngest university professor of k.u.k. Monarchy. In 1865 he became a full member of the Imperial Academy. Stefan has entered the history of physics in the field of radiation laws and electrical engineering. The famous physicist died on January 7, 1893 of a stroke.
