Dr. August Schmidt, publisher of the "Allgemeine Wiener Musikzeitung", invited a small number of music lovers to the hall of the inn "Zum goldenen Löwen" (now Vienna 3, Haymarket No. 13) on October 6, 1843. On this evening, the Vienna Men's Society was founded. This was in the episode, especially at the imperial court in special favor. He was repeatedly invited by the City Fathers for important official occasions. At the end of the first club year, there were already 122 members. The care of Schubert songs and the commitment to charitable goals were and are focal points in the work of the Wiener Männergesangsverein. The brand image shows a concert performance of the singing club in the early days of its existence in the Dornbacher Park. In the background, citizens can be seen in the typical for the time clothing.
