The time around the Vienna Congress was an era of upheaval and upheaval, especially in Austria's technology. In all fields she experienced a hitherto unknown flower. In order to respond to the profound change in technical thinking and creativity in order to increase knowledge and pass it on through teaching, the Polytechnic Institute, today's Technical University, was opened in Vienna on November 7, 1815. It is one of the oldest in Europe. The lecture activity was started for 47 enrolled students. Within four years, a solid foundation had been created with eight subjects, from which developed the today's extensive teaching and research field. Already in the first years of its existence the Polytechnic Institute attracted students from all over Europe, but also from America and Russia due to its excellent reputation. In 1847 the institute already had 1,600 students, compared to more than 7,000 in the previous academic year 1964/65. Outstanding technicians taught at or left this institute, such as Christian Doppler, the discoverer of the effect named after him, Anton Gerstner, the builder of the first railroad of the European continent, the Nobel laureate Richard Zsigmondy or the shipbuilder Viktor Kaplan to name a few .. The brand image brings the front view of the building of the Technical University in Vienna.
