The special company Illkraftwerke A.G. built on the Lüner lake in Vorarlberg in the years 1954 to 1958 a storage power plant. The storage lake, which was formed by the construction of a barrier wall on Lake Lüneburg, near the Schesaplana, has a useful content of 76 million cubic meters; however, the average natural inflow of water, mainly glacier melt water, was only 17 million cubic meters per year in 1962. The remainder, which is 59 million cubic meters per year, had to be filled by five storage pumps with a total output of 336,000 hp. The pumped water was taken from the reservoir Latschau of the underlying power plant Rodund and flowed back to power generation back there. The drop height between Lüner See and Latschaubecken is around 975 meters. The brand image shows the powerhouse of the Lüner-See-Werk on the edge of the storage basin Latschau.
