It was primarily structural weaknesses that failed the economy of the First Republic. After the disruption of the organic connection of the Old Austrian, the basic industry in 1918 had lost the healthy proportion to the remaining remaining economy. On the other hand, the lack of capital of their private owners precluded any fundamental change and modernization of their productive apparatus from that time onwards. In the years of the world economic crisis, this part of the Austrian production industry was the easy prey of foreign interested parties, who, like the Austrian-Alpine Montangesellschaft, for example, were able to secure the majority of their capital and thus acquired the power of a tremendous political pressure. This finally facilitated the Nazi's grip on power in our country enormously. These experiences from the First Republic prompted the responsible authorities to take the initiative after the Second World War and to prevent possible foreign access by nationalizing the key enterprises of the Austrian economy. The brand image - the blast furnace plant of the Austrian-Alpine Montangesellschaft - is also intended to commemorate this aspect of nationalization.
