Adolf Loos, the great moralist in the history of European architecture, was born on December 10, 1870 in Brno, Moravia. The cafe "Nihilismus" (Cafe Museum in Vienna) and the "monster of a house" (Loos-Haus am Michaelerplatz), created in 1899 and 1910/11, were condemned by fiendish contemporaries into land and soil. The uncompromising life and architectural reformer Loos, who unrelentingly advocates his convictions, has always sought a creative approach to his less progressive fellow-creature. The gifted architect died in 1993 in Kalksburg near Vienna.
