On November 7, 1859, the founding members of the "Concordia", Association of Austrian Writers and Journalists, came to the public with a festive performance commemorating the centenary of Schiller's birthday at the Theater an der Wien. Schiller's desire for freedom, especially the pursuit of freedom of the written and spoken word, was in 1859 a shining example of the founders of the association, who were predominantly leading figures among the revolutionaries of 1848. Although originally approved only as an association for the "support of needy members", understood the "Concordia" from the beginning as the social center of all publicists, but also as an institution for the social care of members. In 1958, the association merged with the "Austrian Press Club" founded in 1946 to form the "Press Club Concordia". In 1984, the "Concordia" celebrated a double anniversary, the 125th anniversary of its founding and the 25th Concordiaball in the Second Republic. The highlight of the jubilee year was a matinee at the Akademietheater on 25 November. Two weeks before this event, a special post office was set up in the rooms of "Concordia", in which this jubilee stamp dedicated to the association was available with a first-day stamp. The brand image shows the flag of the press club Concordia.
