Golo Mann was born in 1909 in Munich as Angelus Gottfried Thomas Mann and is one of the most famous historians of the Federal Republic of Germany. He was the son of Nobel laureate Thomas Mann. Golo Mann emigrated during the dictatorship of the National Socialists and lived in the USA for a long time. Only in 1958 he returned to Germany and worked as a publicist. His style of narrative historiography, which is sometimes novel, reached many readers. Mann's most famous work is the biography »Wallenstein. His life tells of Golo Mann «(1971). He died in Leverkusen in 1994.
