Erich Wolfgang Korngold was born on May 29, 1897 in Brno, but soon moved to Vienna. He was considered a "wunderkind" - at the age of 11 he wrote the ballet "The Snowman", which was premiered in 1910 at the Court Opera. After the novel by the Belgian Georges Rodenbach his most famous work was created: "The Dead City", in which all the gloom and mourning of Bruges, cut off from the sea and once so powerful, came to light. On December 4, 1920, the premieres took place in Cologne and Hamburg, which had a great success. The success should be repeated on many other stages. At Max Reinhardt in Hollywood Korngold adapted the Mendelsson sounds to the cult film "A Midsummer Night's Dream". As a result, he created the music for 20 films, mostly for Warner Brothers. In 1938 he received an Oscar for "The Adventures of Robin Hood" with Eroll Flynn. After World War II he returned to Vienna. However, it does not get any bigger results here. Korngold died on November 29, 1957 in Hollywood. The brand image shows a stage design for the opera "The Dead City".
