The brand motif shows the portrait of Dr. Anton Eiselsberg with his signature in facsimile, which was based on an original drawing by the academic painter Robert Fuchs. Anton Freiherr von Eiselsberg was born on July 31, 1860 in Schloss Steinhaus near Wels in Upper Austria. In 1878 he began studying medicine in Vienna, spent one semester in Würzburg, Zurich and Paris and finally completed his doctorate in 1884 in Vienna. The great surgeon Theodor Billroth became his teacher here. At the age of 33 (1893) he was brought to Utrecht as director of the surgical clinic. In 1901 he took over, after Eduard Albert, the management of the Surgical University Hospital in Vienna, which he held until his retirement. On September 30, 1931, he finished his academic career. Eiselberg's preferred field of work was central nervous system surgery. He succeeded in 1907 as the first on the European continent, the removal of a spinal cord tumor. Numerous universities awarded him honorary doctorates, he was since 1928 the first chairman of the Society of German naturalists and physicians, and in 1931 he was elected president of the International Society of Surgery. For 19 years he was president of the Society of Doctors in Vienna. On October 26, 1939, he fell victim to a railroad accident at St. Valentin.
