The main goals of Freemasonry are the education of charity, tolerance and charity. Masons are organized in local associations with fixed meeting rooms - the lodges. Their events are often inaccessible to the public. Prejudice against the community should be counteracted by the 1902 opened in Bayreuth German Freemasons Museum. In 1933, the museum's collection comprised around 50,000 exhibits as well as a library with 12,000 titles and a large archive. The museum, looted by the National Socialists, was reopened in 1954 and displays valuable collections of Masonic objects of daily use such as clocks, porcelain, medals and pictures.
