On May 24, 1903, the German Motorcycling Association (DMV) was founded in Stuttgart. In 1911 it was renamed "General German Automobile Club" (ADAC). The ADAC is today with 14.6 million members the largest automobile club in Europe. Nationwide, it employs around 7,000 full-time employees in 18 regional clubs and 190 branches. The club headquarters is since 1946 in Munich. One of the best known offers of the ADAC is the roadside assistance. She moves 3.5 million times each year to left motorcyclists and motorists out. In addition, 35 rescue helicopters nationwide for medical emergencies in use. The ADAC also organizes traffic education programs and motorsport events.
