In the second half of the last century, Austrian Lazarist priests of St. Vincent v. Paul from the Order of Graz in Constantinople to take care of the pastoral care of German-speaking Catholics. As a result of the pastoral care, the two schools of the college and the St.Georgs plant. The purchase contract with which the premises for the St.Georgs college were acquired is signed on November 25, 1882. This day is considered the founding day of St. George's College in Istanbul. The newly acquired building was adapted and the still small school moved in. In 1900, there were already 231 students and 174 students, including 96 orphans. The Kolleg is today an Austrian school in Turkey, which is closely connected to the homeland. It serves to bring together two different cultures that should benefit from each other. Turkish children should not be educated at the college to "quasi-Austrians", but in the common educational effort of Austrian and Turkish teachers to get to know the cultural diversity of our country and become friends of Austria.
