The Austrian Red Cross Society was founded on 14th March 1880. The first test in peacetime was the newly founded aid organization for heavy flooding in Tyrol and Carinthia in 1882. In 1897, Vienna was the scene of an international conference of the Red Cross, attended by representatives of 32 states. During the First World War, the Red Cross played a central role in the care of the sick and wounded. After the war, the support of seriously wounded and returnees were in the foreground. In 1922, the Austrian Youth Red Cross was founded. With the Red Cross Protection Act of 27 June 1962, the Austrian Red Cross Society was given the necessary powers to represent Austria in the international committees of the Red Cross. In 1970 the name was changed to "Austrian Red Cross". Today, the implementation of the ambulance and ambulance service is an important task of the Red Cross. Health and social services, blood transfusion service and disaster relief service are other areas in which the Austrian Red Cross has distinguished itself in the past. The brand motif shows the old and new seal of the Austrian Red Cross.
