Eugen Bolz was one of the outstanding politicians of the Catholic Center Party in the Weimar Republic and opposed the National Socialists. Bolz was born on December 15, 1881 in Rottenburg / Neckar. He studied law in Tübingen, Bonn and Berlin and belonged from 1912 to the Reichstag. In 1919 he became Minister of Justice in Württemberg, 1923 Minister of Interior and 1928 President. In 1933 the National Socialists deposed the Wiirttemberg government and excluded Bolz from politics. In 1944 he was imprisoned in Ravensbrück concentration camp. The following year Bolz was sentenced to death by the People's Court and then murdered on January 23, 1945 in Berlin-Plötzensee.
