This was the beginning of the development of a vast area, which became a magnificent park in the following century thanks to the achievements of many architects, artists and garden designers. The highlight of the complex was built between 1745 and 1747, the castle Sanssouci on the highest elevation of the hill, whose southern slope is divided by six swinging in the middle terraces. The architect was Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff (1699-1753), the caryatids of the southern, behind the garden-facing side, created Friedrich Christian Glume (1714-1752). The interior with some of the most beautiful rooms of the Rococo has been restored in recent years. With the reconstruction of the six terraces from 1980 to 1983, the original appearance of the castle has been restored.
