Remembrance and memorial centers Mittelbau - Dora, Nordhausen As part of the series "Memorials and memorials" issued by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic, a special postage stamp with a representation of the reminder and memorial Mittelbau Dora in Nordhausen out. Special cancellation from 28th of August to 27th of October 1979 Remembrance and memorial Mittelbau -Dora In 1935/36 the fascists on Kohnstein, between Nordhausen-Krimderode and Niedersachswerfen, started with preparatory work for the installation of a fuel depot. This action was taken to plan the second imperialist war of robbery. After the destruction of the fascist army research institute Peenemünde in August 1943, ten days later with the same aim and using the started tunnel system in the Kohnstein the establishment of an external camp of the Buchenwald concentration camp for the production of rocket weapons. To safeguard this war production, the Buchenwald Foreign Command was converted into an independent concentration camp in October 1944, with at times 36 satellite camps and commandos. From the time of becoming independent, the concentration camp received the name "Mittelbau-Dora". It was subordinate to the Amtsgruppe "C" (war production) in the Reich Security Main Office of the SS. Of the more than 60,000 people from 21 European countries who were deported to the Mittelbau-Dora concentration camp, over 20,000 people lost their lives in inhumane working conditions. To commemorate the murdered fighters against fascism, war and imperialism, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues a special postage stamp. Mittelbau-Dora was still created the destruction of Peenemünde to continue rocket production in the underground rocket production plant Mittelwerk GmbH under the conditions of "wartime necessity". Mittelbau-Dora was a model of state-monopoly capitalism and showed most clearly the close interlinking and cooperation between the German armaments capital and the fascist state and power apparatus. As in such notorious concentration camps Auschwitz, Theresienstadt, so also in Dora after the fascist slogan "extermination by work" proceeded. As in the other concentration camps, anti-fascists of various nations, led by the candidate of the Thälmann Central Committee Albert Kuntz, organized a broad front of resistance. In realizing the principle of solidarity and proletarian internationalism in action, they formed a front section in the middle of fascist Germany. Their heroic struggle to carry out sabotage on V 1 and V 2 helped to preserve the lives and well-being of countless women, children, and the elderly in such cities as London, Rotterdam, Liege, Antwerp, and others. In order to recall even more strongly the anti-fascist struggle and the victims of this heroic struggle, the decent design of this former site of horror was made a place of commemoration and commitment on the basis of the decision of the party of the working class and the local state organs. The memorial was declared a district youth object. In realizing the association's orders of the Free German Youth, a material value of well over one million has been created in the past more than ten years. Thus Mittelbau-Dora is not only a stone testimony of the past, but a symbol of the other, where under the leadership of the Party of the Working Class youth preserves the legacy of the anti-fascist resistance fighters and leads an active struggle against all manifestations of fascism and neo-fascism.
