A portrait of Walther von der Vogelweide after the well-known representation in the manuscript manuscript collection decorates this special postage stamp. Thus, this historically significant minnesinger became, so to speak, the patron of the 3rd Austrian Association of Singing Societies, which took place from 17 to 20 July 1958 in Vienna. The musical program was intended to give a cross-section of international choral art. All male choral works by Franz Schubert were performed at the Sängerbundfest on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the death of the composer (November 19). The 3rd Austrian Association of Singers was not organized as a state party, but symbolically placed the choral song in the service of international understanding. With the participation of choirs from all over the world, this event was of particular importance in the service of world peace.
