Precious art clocks from the State Mathematical-Physical Salon Dresden Among the world-famous holdings of the State Mathematical-Physical Salon in the Dresden Zwinger is u.a. The well-known collection of watches with their precious handcrafted and fine mechanical exhibits from the history and development of chronometry. Among them are magnificent pomp and automaton clocks of the 16th to 18th centuries as unique masterpieces of early watchmaking. One of the most beautiful automaton watches of the late 16th century is the 80 centimeter high fire-gilded clock tower with its twelve dials and the five groups of machines incorporated in the case, which was shown on the 5-pfennig mark in 1585 by the Nuremberg watchmaker Paulus Schuster.
