National Stamp Exhibition DDR 79 At the national stamp exhibition of the GDR in Dresden from 10 to 19 August 1979, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic are two multicolored special postage stamps, of which one with surcharge, and a block out. The sums collected will be made available to the Philatelistenverband in the cultural association of the GDR. National Stamp Exhibition "DDR 79" on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the GDR in Dresden From 10 to 19 August 1979, the National Stamp Exhibition "DDR 79" will take place in the halls at Fucikplatz in Dresden. It is organized by the Philatelistenverband in the Cultural League of the GDR and is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the German Democratic Republic. With her philatelic exhibits from all districts, she will give a representative overview of the possibilities of a modern socialist philately, which is an integral part of cultural folk art. Especially with the thematic collections, the "DDR 79" will document the 30-year development of our republic, it will reflect the successes in many areas of social life, represented by the way led by the working class and its Marxist-Leninist party and the prospects of further expression of the developed socialist society. With the "DDR 79" continues the series of large national exhibitions of philatelists, in the so far the I. DEBRIA (= German Stamp Exhibition) 1950 in Leipzig, the II. DEBRIA for the 10th Anniversary of the Republic 1959 in Berlin and the Performance shows for the 15th anniversary of the GDR in 1964 in Berlin, the 50th anniversary of the Great Socialist October Revolution 1967 in Karl Marx City, the 20th birthday of the GDR in 1969 in Magdeburg and the 25th anniversary of the socialist German state 1974 in Karl Marx City are called. The "DDR 79" is therefore the seventh highlight in the history of the National Exhibitions. In addition to the philatelists, other cultural leisure areas will also be represented on her with selected exhibits, which have found a home in the Cultural League of the GDR - similar to philately - for decades. For this special issue of the "DDR 79" interesting Dresden motifs were selected, taking into account the fact that many other attractions of the city have been previously displayed on postage stamps of the GDR. The block in the value level of 1, - Mark combines historical and modern Dresden buildings into a graphic ensemble. In detail, many well-known buildings of the Elbe metropolis can be seen in this composition: - In the foreground, the 100-meter-high Town Hall tower with the gilded giant holding a cornucopia as genius of the city and a work by the sculptor Richard Guhr from the years 1908-10 is - left next to the so-called country house, which was completed in 1776 according to plans of the court architect Krubsacius, was the first public building in Dresden for the administration of all of Saxony and today the Institute as the Museum of the History of Dresden accommodated, - directly behind the famous, as The Arc de Triomphe, which was built according to the plans of the architect Pöppelmann in the courtly Baroque in 1713, - left the Sempergalerie to the left, built in 1847-54 with creative processing of Italian renaissance forms, - above the equestrian monument of the Saxon King Johann on the Theaterplatz, 1889 of J. Schilling, and the well-known Semperoper, currently under reconstruction, completed by his son Manfred in 1871-78 according to the plans of Gottfried Semper, - to the right of it at the upper edge of the block in intimation the towers of the Hofkirche and the former Landtag building as well as two Georgian archs Dimitroff Bridge, on the other side of the block behind the Town Hall Tower, is finally lined with several striking new buildings, including the Palace of Culture, one of the inter-hotels on Prague's street, the Panorama Cinema, the International Restaurant Complex and the 252 meter high TV Tower. In addition, brands like Block adhere to the emblem of the "DDR 79", which the Rostock graphic designer Jochen Berthold created for publicity promoting the exhibition.
