From September 11 to 15, 1985, the National Stamp Exhibition 1985 (NAPOSTA 85) with international participation will take place in the Congress Centrum Hamburg. It is organized by the Bund Deutscher Philatelisten e.V. in cooperation with the Federal Association of the German Stamp Trade APHV e.V. and is associated with the international exhibition of modern philately (MOPHILA 85). From 11 to 15 September 1985, the MOPHILA 85 - International Exhibition of Modern Philately - will take place in Hamburg under the direction of the FIP World Federation of Organized Philately (Fédération Internationale de Philatelie). Over 130 objects from around 40 nations, which deal exclusively with the stamp innovations of the last 10 years (1974 to 1983), are exhibited in the Congress Centrum Hamburg (CCH). The MOPHILA 85 follows on from its model from the year 1931. At that time, exhibitors from 30 nations presented their exhibits with brands from all over the world in the exhibition halls of the zoological garden in Hamburg. The visitors were especially interested in the manifold documents of the regular postal services with the airship »Graf Zeppellin«. The raffle of Zeppelin free rides was one of the great attractions of MOPHILA 1931. More than 50 years later, MOPHILA 85 HAMBURG - the worldwide showcase of modern philately - has far more to fulfill. Undoubtedly, the brands of the present and the still young brand countries are among the graphically most successful small-scale artworks that send their messages across all political and ideological borders into the world. The MOPHILA 85 HAMBURG will also make it clear what a great and valuable contribution philately can make to cultural history in all countries. For example, the MOPHILA 85 HAMBURG, as the first international model exhibition for modern philately and its already planned follow-up events in other countries, should help to further positively influence the image of philately in public and to interest new and, above all, young friends in this extremely attractive hobby , The MOPHILA 85 HAMBURG is part of the National Stamp Exhibition NAPOSTA 85 HAMBURG in both time and space. Both major philatelic events are organized by the Bund Deutscher Philatelisten e.V. in cooperation with the Bundesverband des Deutschen Stampmarkenhandels (APHV). In recognition of the international significance of the MOPHILA 85 HAMBURG, the 2 special postage stamps of the Deutsche Bundespost are published. The proceeds from the sale of the brands will be donated to the Foundation for the Promotion of Philately and Postal History e.V., which has set itself the task of soliciting the philatelic and post-historical aspirations of all, including MOPHILA 85 HAMBURG. With their charming historical stagecoach motifs, the two special postage stamps for MOPHILA 85 HAMBURG form a thematic continuation of the special stamp that appears every year on the occasion of the "Stamp Day". The "Stamp Day 1985" is festively celebrated on 27 October 1985 by the Bund Deutscher Philatelisten e.V., its associations and youth groups.
