The Austrian Association of Singers, the organizer of the International Choir Festival, is the umbrella organization of nine Austrian national singer bands. In it are represented with about 30,000 singers all kinds of choirs. After the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, the focus of lay singing was on the rediscovery of the folk song. After 1945, the trend towards a mixed or three-part male choir became visible. The old-class choral music was rediscovered and contemporary choral songs were written. The main task of the Austrian Association of Singers is to cultivate intellectual and artistic contact with its choirs. In addition to a high-quality music festival, the event in Vienna should be dedicated to peace, humanity and international reconciliation.
