Historic Post Office The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes four multicolored special postage stamps with illustrations of historical post offices individually and in combination. Special postmark from 3 February to 2 April 1987 Historic Post Office 10 Pfennig value: Post Office Freiberg The post office Freiberg was built in the years 1888 to 1889 and put into operation on 29 October 1889. It is a free-standing two-storey building with a partially visible base. The facade is veneered with yellow-red clinker. The window walls and pilaster strips as well as the horizontal strips in the height of the lintel and the floor level are made of sandstone. The entrance area is particularly emphasized with a parallel to the building on both sides oriented outside staircase. At present, the Post Office is home to operational services as well as administrative and central facilities of the Freiberg Post and Telecommunications Office. The building is a monument of urban planning and architecture.
