The assertion that a military unit is as reliable as its postal service home can be safely accepted. Among other things, the United Nations Charter states: "We, the peoples of the United Nations, determined to save future generations from the scourge of war, ..... have decided to unite our effort to achieve these intentions. " Austria has been a member of the United Nations since 14/12/1955 and has agreed to make commitments. including the taking of measures in case of a peace threat, a peace break or an offensive action. Judging by its tiny size on a world scale, Austria participated relatively often in peacekeeping operations. The following fieldpost stamps were used: 13.6.-20.7.74 OT: "1500 UNEF AUSBATT".
