The International Federation of Freight Forwarders, known as FIATA, headquartered in Zurich, represents freight forwarders throughout the world. At the time of issue of this special stamp, it had 60 affiliates and more than 1,500 associate members in 130 countries. Through its full and associate members, FIATA comprises more than 35,000 freight forwarders with approximately eight million employees in every continent. On September 7, 1925, delegates from 15 freight forwarders' associations from twelve European countries decided to found FIATA. In 1926 it was actually launched in Vienna. In the years 1926-1939 FIATA was already very active and had about 20 members. The constant expansion in the years after the Second World War and the periodic World Congresses make FIATA today an internationally recognized organization in the field of transport. On the occasion of the jubilee congress 1985 in Vienna "60 years of FIATA", the Austrian Post and Telegraph Administration issued this special postage stamp, which was the world's first carrier stamp. The brand image shows the FIATA emblem and a view of Vienna.
