In the period from 3 to 7 September 1984, the 7th European Congress on Anatomical Anatomy took place in Innsbruck. The idea of holding European anatomical congresses came into being in 1958. At that time three societies came into existence, namely the "Anatomical Society" (founded in 1886), the "Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland" (founded in 1889) and the "Association des Anatomistes". (founded in 1899) to set up this communication platform for European scientists in the field of anatomy. In 1960, the first such congress took place in Strasbourg. For the 7th congress Innsbruck received the honorable task of organizing this event for the first time in Austria. Anatomical science covers a large area that ranges from ultrastructure to the clinic. Thus, in anatomy both basic research and clinically applied research is operated. However, not only the morphology of humans, but also that of animals in the sense of comparative research is operated as a comparative anatomy. Comparative and clinical anatomy have a long tradition in Austria. The brand image shows a glass window by J. Widmoser with the image of Joseph Hyrtl, one of the most important Austrian representatives of clinical anatomy.
