One of the most important features of the second half of the 19th century was the extraordinary progress made in science and technology. So also in the field of chemistry and related pharmaceuticals. Inspired by these developments, scientific organizations have taken shape in many countries. At the international level, cooperation between researchers was apparent. In 1865 an international congress of pharmacists took place in Braunschweig, the next in Vienna and many others followed. While some pharmacists have been exploring new areas of science, others have sought new ways to protect pharmacy agents. Many national pharmaceutical associations were founded during this phase, but their efforts remained limited at the national level. There was no coordination and no international cooperation. The founding of the Fédération Internationale Pharmaceutique in 1912 ended this situation. It united the national associations and combined both aspects of pharmacy, scientific and professional under one umbrella organization. This organization organizes once a year an international congress that serves as a forum for scientists and practicing pharmacists. The brand image shows a stand scale with imperial double-headed eagle.
