The Eifel National Park is located about 65 kilometers southwest of Cologne. North Rhine-Westphalia's only national park offers a varied landscape with deep forests, wide grasslands, streams and lakes. There, the principle of "letting nature be nature" applies over an area of 110 square kilometers. Thus, from a landscape formerly influenced by humans, a new natural variety and beauty of unguided nature develop there, which visitors can hike and experience through a marked network of paths. More than 900 threatened animal and plant species have already been proven by researchers in the "primeval forests of tomorrow".
