Raccoons (Procyon lotor) are among the small bears and originate from North and Central America. Even in Europe, the cat-like nocturnal omnivore is native to many decades. Again and again in April, many puppies in Germany see the light of day. The main mating season of the raccoons is usually in the February. After about 65 days of gestation, the fox gives birth to an average of three young. These are blind, deaf and toothless, but covered with a yellowish fluff. Within the first month of life, the little ones are nursed exclusively. After ten days, the typical black facial mask gradually forms, a few days later the color rings appear on the tail. About nine weeks after the birth, the puppies make their first evening trips with the mother. Even now they are nursed, in the coming weeks, however, with decreasing intensity. In the 16th week, the fart stops breastfeeding. Until autumn, the family association is still preserved, then separate the ways.
