This brand introduces a six-brand series of portraits of well-known artists' house members. At the top and as a motive of this brand is the painter Hans Makart, whose life is a chain of unprecedented successes. On May 29, 1840, he was born the son of a room supervisor of the Mirabell Palace in Salzburg. He educated himself in Munich under Prof. Carl v. Piloty history painter. For the first time, he caused a sensation already in 1869 with his "Modern Cupids" and the triptych "The Plague in Florence" painted the same year. His painting "Julia on the Stretcher", painted in Rome in 1869, was acquired by Emperor Franz Joseph and a studio was set up for the artist in the former ore foundry on Gußhausstraße. From there, the widespread "Makartstil" began, which the society of its time celebrated with enthusiasm. Makart's famous works are the gigantic, magnificent and figure-rich compositions such as "Homage to Catarina Cornaro" or "Triumph of Ariadne". On December 7, 1878 he was appointed by the Emperor professor of the Academy, in 1881 and 1882 he was elected president of the artist cooperative. On October 3, 1884, the brilliant artist died.
