5th World Crop and Bread Congress 1970 in Dresden For the 5th World Crop and Bread Congress, which takes place from May 24 to 29, 1970 in Dresden, two multicolored special postage stamps will be published together with an intermediate field. 5. World Cereal and Bread Congress Cereals and bread are one of the foundations of humanity's diet. The importance of grain is steadily increasing due to the stormy growth of the world population. Therefore, today's problems of grain production and processing play a vital role. Science and technology are taking on increasing production and improving processing an ever-increasing influence. A highlight in the collaboration of scientists and technicians around the world are the international grain and bread conferences, which took place in 1927 in Prague, 1932 in Rome, 1955 in Hamburg and 1966 in Vienna. The German Democratic Republic considers it a high honor that the 5th Congress takes place in their country. The 5th World Grain and Bread Congress will be held from 24 to 29 May 1970 in Dresden under the patronage of the Government of the German Democratic Republic. The scientific program is being developed in close collaboration with the International Society for Cereal Chemistry (ICC). About one hundred lectures will deal with the individual problems in 13 scientific sections under the motto "The Scientific and Technical Revolution in the Processing of Grains - Current Knowledge - Tasks for the Future". The heads of each section have internationally known scientists from all continents of the world. During the congress, agricultural machinery, modern silage equipment, grain processing machinery, bakery equipment, laboratory equipment, crop protection products and textbooks will all be displayed at an exhibition. Furthermore, it is possible to visit modern production facilities of the grain processing and bakery industry, the machine and laboratory building, the optical industry and scientific training centers in the GDR.
