Born in St Radegund on May 20, 1907, the resistance fighter Franz Jägerstätter was called up for military service in the summer of 1940 and sworn in on June 17 in Braunau. But he was able to return to his court a few days later at the intervention of the mayor of his home town. From October 1940 to April 1941 he was in the Wehrmacht, but not in the front line. After further exemptions from military service, the devout Jägerstätter decided not to comply with another convocation. After this took place, he turned on March 1, 1943 the military authority and pronounced his refusal. On August 9, 1943 at 16 o'clock he paid his deep-believe conviction against a service with the weapon for the goals of the national socialists with his life. As one of sixteen victims, the condemned to death was beheaded.
