The city Landshut celebrates since 1903 in memory of the marriage of the last Landshut Duke, Georg the rich, with the Polish princess Jadwiga the "Landshut wedding 1475". The wedding has gone down in history as one of the greatest court festivals of the late Middle Ages. Reborn in the game, today, with its 1,200 contributors, all of whom are Landshut citizens, it is considered the greatest historical festival in Europe, if not the world. With festivals and dancing, with contemporary concert performances and a stylish campground, she relives a courtly day of the 15th century. In 1975, the Landshut Hochzeit 1475 celebrated its 500th anniversary. The performance of the anniversary event, like the previous festivals, is in the hands of the charitable association »Die Förderer« e.V. Landshut. The performance will feature the Festival, an epic performance and preparation for the wedding party and dance. Both are displayed in the Rathausprunksaal. The Old Town life - raising the guards, gathering the brushwood, access to the farmer's market, appearance of traveling comedians on stage stages with actors, tightrope walkers - as well as the wedding procession through one of the most beautiful streets in Germany, the gothic old town Landshut, forms a picture of late medieval boom. A group of musicians and singers provide a selection of instrumental pieces, songs and dance styles from the late Middle Ages: music around 1475. The contemporary garb of all performers and the use of historical instruments such as fiddles, viols, flutes, crumb horns, Pomeranian, trombones, lutes and Portative organs let the sound of the late 15th century come to life. The wedding procession ends at the tournament site. The "high guests" go to the prince's tent, to the wedding table. During the feast, brushwood, flag-wavers and the knighthood bring tribute. The solemn procession with squires, spears and lancers is followed by the Ringelstein and the tournament of knights in iron armor, the only medieval tournament that is still performed in Germany. The campsite with tents, taverns, hawks and horses, with cooking fires and with hundreds from the entourage of the wedding procession, all in historical costumes, offers a colorful picture of medieval life.
