On June 1, 1955, the Deutsche Bundespost looks back on a 50th anniversary of the use of the force postal service. She issues a special stamp for the occasion. When the motor vehicle reached operational readiness at the turn of the century, Swiss Post decided to make use of the new means of transport for its own purposes, and on June 1, 1905, set up the first postal service line on the Bad Tölz-Lenggries line. The efforts to improve the traffic conditions in rural districts with the help of the motor vehicle were put on a broad basis for the first time by the use of postal rates for the transport of persons and mail. The transition from the stagecoach to the motor coach thus represents a significant event not only in the history of the postal service, but also in the development of the entire road transport system.
