José Carreras is certainly one of the most outstanding personalities in the world of music. He was born in Barcelona. There he also completed his music studies. His professional career began in 1970 at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona with roles in the operas "Nabucco" and "Lucrezia Borgia". He soon received engagements in the world's most famous opera houses, including the Milan Scala, the New York Metropolitan Opera House, the Vienna State Opera, the London Royal Opera House, the Munich Opera, the Lyric Opera in Chicago and several music festivals. José Carreras has worked with the best-known conductors stage directors of our time. His repertoire includes more than sixty operas. The extensive discography includes over 150 recordings, including fifty complete operas and oratorios. He has been awarded numerous gold and platinum records around the world. Among the numerous national and international prizes and awards include the appointment as Kammersänger and lifelong honorary member of the Vienna State Opera.
