Minimundus, the "Little World on the Wörthersee" near Klagenfurt, was opened on 3 July 1959 and has since been run and managed by the Austrian Society "Save the Child". Over the course of years, apprentices and students from many of the higher technical institutes in Austria have built models that fascinate visitors from Germany and abroad over many years. They are partly buildings, but also form complete ensembles. Approximately 110 models, most of them in 1:25 scale, fully original and sometimes even built according to the plans of the originals, were in Minimundus at the time of issue of the special postage stamp. Among them, for example, the rock temple of Abu Simbel in Upper Egypt, the St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, the Bavarian Neuschwanstein Castle and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Almost all the countries of the world are represented in Minimundus, the visitor walks along a guide along the numbered models through a world in miniature, which is an authentic reflection of the reality. Nearly 8 million visitors in 25 years, which is about 300,000 people between May and October on an annual average, but also meant an important contribution to the Carinthian economy, the Minimundus had made since its opening in 1984.
