Karl Friedrich Schinkel was born on March 13, 1781 in Neuruppin, Brandenburg. He worked mainly as an architect and painter. In 1810 Schinkel became a civil servant at the top Prussian building administration in Berlin and from 1815 worked mostly as a master builder. Its architecture is in harmony with the Prussian Enlightenment and is characterized by a clear language of forms and the return to ancient forms. Thus, Schinkel's buildings are clearly different from the overflowing facades of the Baroque style. The stamp shows a drawing that Schinkel made to his design of the Neues Museum (today's Alte Museum on Museum Island) in Berlin. Schinkel died on October 9, 1841 in Berlin.
