Eduard Mörike is one of the most important German-speaking poets. His works combine classical, romantic and folk song-like elements. He was born on September 8, 1804 in Ludwigsburg and studied from 1818 to 1826 at the Protestant Theological Seminary Urach and at the Tübinger Stift. During his time as a pastor, he published, among other things, his artist novel "Painter Nolten" (1832). Because of his poor health, Mörike gave up the parish office and was retired early in 1843. From then on he dedicated himself intensively to his literary passion. Above all, nature and his love relationships play a role in his works. When Eduard Mörike died on June 4, 1875 in Stuttgart, he left behind an extensive literary work.
