On November 29, 1839 Ludwig Anzengruber was born. After the early death of his father, his mother was the key figure in his education. His academic career was terminated in 1854, he also broke off a bookseller apprenticeship early. After a severe typhoid fever, he turned in 1859 to the acting profession. This was followed by intensive travel by the Austrian monarchy, which followed the then Schmierenbühnen. It was not until 1869 that he had to accept a law firm position at the Vienna Police Department due to financial difficulties. Under the pseudonym L. Gruber Anzengruber 1870 breakthrough. His play "Pastor von Kirchfeld", which premiered at the Theater an der Wien, was well received by the public and the press alike. He subsequently gave up his position on the chancellery, producing many famous pieces such as "Der Perjury Builder" (1871), "Die Kreuzelschreiber" (1872) or "Der G'wissenwurm", all of which played in the rural milieu. In the following years he turned to more and more fabrics and motifs of urban space. The poet died on 10 December 1889 from a blood poisoning.
