The architect and town planner Camillo Sitte would have been 1968 125th years old. Born the son of an architect in 1843, he came into contact with his later profession early on. After completing his studies, he worked in his father's office and was soon called to Salzburg to take over the management of a state vocational school. He said goodbye to practice and switched to teaching and research. In the ten Salzburg years he began his journalistic activity. From there, custom was again called to Vienna to take over the management of the newly founded state school "Schellinggasse". Camillo Sitte led her until his death, nearly 20 years. 1889 appeared the main work Sittes, "the town construction after its artistic principles". The work already had tremendous success on its appearance after contemporary judgment. To date, the work has six German editions, the last in 1965. For generations of architects and urban builders, the ideas developed therein formed the basis of professional training. In his work, Sitte examines the relationship between buildings, monuments and squares and the size and shape of the sites, and postulates fundamental research as an indispensable prerequisite for any planning in the field of urban planning. The brand image shows a portrait of Camillo Sitte.
