Kurt Georg Kiesinger was born in 1904 in Ebingen in Baden-Württemberg. After studying law and political science in Tübingen and Berlin, he worked as a lawyer. From 1940 he was employed in the broadcasting department of the Reich Foreign Ministry. After the Second World War Kiesinger joined the CDU and in 1949 became a member of the German Bundestag for the first time. From 1958 to 1966 he was Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg. Based on the votes of the Grand Coalition of CDU and SPD he was from 1966 to 1969 Chancellor. From 1967 to 1971 he also took over the party presidency of the CDU. Kurt Georg Kiesinger died on March 9, 1988 in Tübingen.
