Egon Eiermann - born on September 29, 1904 in Neuendorf near Berlin - was one of the most important architects of the post-war period in Germany. His work was characterized by strict geometry, simplicity and direct recognition of the function. He studied at the Technical University in Berlin-Charlottenburg. From 1931 to 1945 he worked as an independent architect in Berlin. From 1947 he taught at the Technical University of Karlsruhe and also had his architectural office there. Among his most important buildings include the German Pavilion at the World's Fair in Brussels (1958), the new Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin (1961), the German Embassy in Washington (1964) and the Members High-rise in Bonn (1969) , Egon Eiermann died on July 19, 1970 in Baden-Baden.
